About Monica Da Ponte
Monica is passionate about building a society where people and nature thrive. She uses her expertise in systems, business, and not for profit management to help catalyze a regenerative and distributive future.
Monica started Shift & Build in 2015 and helps organizations develop and implement strategies that deliver social and environmental impact as well as economic return .
Prior to Shift & Build, Monica was the Executive Director, Education at Public Services Health and Safety Association leading efforts to advance prevention in the education and culture sectors.
Preceding PSHSA, Monica led WWF-Canada’s efforts to drive transformational change and raise funds through relationships with business.
Here, she created the award winning, Living Planet @ Work, WWF’s program to advance sustainability through employee engagement. The program now has over 1,000 participating companies and has raised over $1M for conservation efforts.
Monica began her career at Procter & Gamble in various business development and customer marketing roles.
Monica is an Adjunct Proffessor at and holds a BBA as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. She also completed a residency program at The Banff Centre focused on using design thinking to build market-based solutions that tackle economic inequality.

Strive emerged out of the Alt/Now program at The Banff Centre. Monica designed the initiative with a belief that peer to peer engagement combined with efforts to encourage financially resilient behaviours could catalyze greater financial agency.
